Partner  Workshop: Senior Living Transition Planning

    When: May 6th

Time: 12 noon to 130 pm

    Location: Virtual

    Registration

    Workshop Overview

For many seniors, aging in place in the family home may not be the safest or most appropriate living option. Whether a change is driven by increasing care requirements, overwhelming house and yard work or simply the desire for more socialization, a move to a senior living community can be a good option. However, this kind of move is never just a move; it is more of a transition. The purpose of this roundtable is to discuss some best practices for your clients around the following topics:

    Estate Planning

Provide a basic understanding of estate planning recommended for later-life transitions, outlining why it's important and the essential tools to avoid guardianships, maximize available benefits, and protect assets from scammers, judgments, and long-term care costs.

    Downsizing

Discuss the basics of the Art of Downsizing

    Long Term Care Insurance Claims

We will discuss the challenges that long-term care insurance policyholders have when they attempt to make a claim.  There are many families that do not realize the unintended consequences of the major mistakes they can easily make when attempting to file a claim on their own. We’ll go through some of the biggest mistakes that are commonly made as well as how to guide your clients when it comes to long-term care claims and maximizing their benefits to preserve their wealth.

    Choosing a Senior Living Community

How to factor in Care Capability, Social Interests and Cost to choose the community that best fits your needs now and in the future.

This partner roundtable is presented by CarePatrol of Metro Kansas City, FPAKC Silver Partners for 2021. CarePatrol is the nation’s largest Senior Placement Franchise organization. THE SCIENCE OF INFLUENCE:
SIX SIMPLE WAYS TO GET YOUR CLIENTS TO TAKE YOUR BEST ADVICE

    DANIEL CROSBY, PHD

    Chief Behavioral Officer, Orion

In disciplines as diverse as nutrition, medicine, and finance, there is a large gap between knowing what to do and actually acting on what we know. This chasm, known as the "knowing-doing gap" accounts for a host of unfavorable outcomes. In the US, research suggests that less than half of Americans receive financial advice, and among those that do, less than half actually follow through on the advice given. In this engaging presentation, Dr. Daniel Crosby will help participants close the knowing-doing gap with six proven techniques for giving advice that really sticks.

    CFP - 1.5 hour approved

Kansas Insurance - 1 hour approved

Educated at Brigham Young and Emory Universities, Dr. Daniel Crosby is a psychologist and behavioral finance expert who helps organizations understand the intersection of mind and markets. Dr. Crosby's first book, Personal Benchmark: Integrating Behavioral Finance and Investment Management, was a New York Times bestseller. His second book, The Laws of Wealth, was named the best investment book of 2017 by the Axiom Business Book Awards and has been translated into 7 languages.

His latest work, The Behavioral Investor, is a comprehensive look at the neurology, physiology and psychology of sound financial decision-making. When he is not consulting around market psychology, Daniel enjoys exploring the American South, fanatically following St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and spending time with his wife and three children.
