Year of the Rooster - Time to Wake Up? Economy in 2017
What we know so far is that the world did not come to an end with the election of Donald Trump. In fact, there has been a nice little economic surge in many of the world economies. We also know that nothing is quite the same as it was before and it is taking time to adjust. What really has changed and what is yet to react and what can be expected for the remainder of the year? More importantly - what is the next unexpected event or reaction globally? As far as the world economy is concerned, the four biggest concerns will include potential trade wars with China and Mexico, Trump’s antagonism towards the European Union and the potential for a full-throated policy of isolationism in the US. In the US, the big issues will be whether infrastructure spending will take place as promised, whether deregulation in banking and health care will take place, and whether real tax changes will occur. The plans were developed quickly and then handed off to Congress and that is where the battles are now being fought. This will be the pattern for the next several years.
